Interests: Basically, following the greatest commandments our LORD ever gave---loving Him and loving others as much as I love myself--unreservedly. Brokenness, humility, intercessory prayer, seeing God's kingdom function as it should in this dark world and all peoples bend their knee in worship to Jesus, the King--these things also pique my interest.

It is really strange but Ethan, my one year old, DOES NOT LIKE bow tie pasta. "They" (the unknown experts) tell you that you should try foods a couple times before swearing them off from your child's diet because they tend to reject some new foods a few times. We have been trying to give him bow tie pasta for about three days. What is so repulsive about bow tie pasta? One of my favorite dishes from Macaroni Grill is made with bow tie pasta...mmmmmm....

Doesn't it look delectable? Tell that to my one year old.

Trey thinks that the babe just tires of chewing and that is why he "rejects" or spits it out of his mouth. There could be some genetic truth to that. I used chew and chew and chew and chew ground beef. I refused to swallow it. I probably spit it out too. My mom always leaves that part of the story out but after having a one year old, I know their ways...

Anyhow, this is one of the many trials of parenting...trying to train imperfect little souls to obey their parents so that they can be set up to learn how to obey the One who will love them perfectly because He is perfect.

This is very unusual for me to post twice in one day but here goes...

So, I walk in about 9:45PM to our apartment after a late meeting for work and find my husband with his Bible in one hand and calculator in the other. This is a highly abnormal sight and combination so I asked him "Why do you have the Bible and a calculator in your hands?" Not even looking up from what he was doing, he remarks "I'm calculating how many days are left until Jesus comes back." I felt, for a second, like I had entered the twilight zone. My math-loathing husband doing statistics on when Jesus would return. I felt like I was stuck in some Christian "Leave It To Beaver" kind of 50s show.

Meet my husband, the comedian. He is still busy calculating something...I honestly don't know yet because he is so engrossed he can't tell me until he is finished. How many of you want to know what he is really doing? Join the club.

Lists of things I do well and do poorly...

Things I am bad at:

1) Updating FREQUENTLY my xanga
2) Calling FREQUENTLY my beloved friends and family
3) Remembering anything that isn't a wedding date or baby's due date
4) Driving
5) Time Management

Things I am good at:

1) Being forgetful (wink--that one doesn't count)
2) Making lists especially ones that say "To Do" at the top
3) Getting tasks done
4) Overcommitting
5) Throwing things away (sometimes I throw away things that should be kept...oops)

I have nothing more to say. At least I updated. Hope you enjoyed it. I am sure it was spiritually edifying. Don't you feel blessed???

The End.

What is this? An entry? Unheard of!

Ok, so I am totally ashamed at how long it has been since my last post. I have most likely lost all previous readers. Thus, this xanga site becomes my outlet for the expression of my thoughts--merely a means of practicing thinking through things in such a way as to grab a hold of the thoughts before they are overtaken by new thoughts and the many distractions of the days, weeks, months...few will venture to my site except Trey, my husband, who out of sweetness, has a subscription to my xanga. And, that's ok.

Actually, this is just gonna be a fun post because I am losing my motivation...here are some pics from our recent (as in we just got back Tuesday) trip to North Carolina!!! We visited friends I never met...in other words, they were Trey's friends until this weekend...

This is our friend, Janette...she is feeding Ethan some yummy, mashed up stuff...don't be jealous... wink!

All done! What a cutie!

I made a new friend this weekend! She is a sweet girl!

Having a pre-dinner dessert...we both love sweets...mmmm good!

Ethan made some new friends too...

Sitting under some trees on park bench in the cool North Carolina evening is wondrous...until a bird , well, you know...Ethan thought is was funny...
Trey obviously was disgusted...looks like Ethan takes after his mom's humor...

Family portrait time!! We are cute!

At this stage, he still likes my kisses...he is so scrumptious!
If you were a momma, you'd understand how adjectives relating to food
can be ascribed to children and it is perfectly normal...

He just found out he can eat chocolate when he turns two! Wouldn't you be excited!!!

The lovely Bridestines...our hosts and dear friends!

I am ready to walk!!! If only I could figure out how to hold up my big belly...then I could do it!!!

Pre-hike pose in the Smokies...yes...Ethan is strapped to Trey's back...

Hi Ho, hi ho, it's off to hike we go..

Ethan LOVES to hike..errr...be carried and be outside...let's call it baby-hiking...

So....Ethan got a little restless in the infant backpack...soooo...we let him stand on this rock...

We made it to the top...it was chilly up there but BEAUTIFUL!!

Refueling...some of us need more than one sandwich...after all, he carried a baby on his back up the mountain...what a stud!

Picture section concluded...so...Ethan stole the show...funny how children do that...oh well...gets the focus off of ourselves, which is a good thing. It was a fun trip. I like all those people in the pictures.

Ciao!

Edit Note: Sorry about the misalignment of the captions and photos...I couldn't figure out how to make the captions go directly under the photo...I am pretty technologically handicapped. I hope it doesn't annoy anyone...if it does, seek the LORD and ask Him to burden your heart for WHAT really matters....

21 Do you not know?
       Have you not heard?
Has it not been told you from the beginning?
Have you not understood since the earth was founded?

Wake up world! He is King and will NOT relinquish His rights to ANYONE! When I read this stanza...I feel like the Kyrsten Translation is Hello! Get out of yourself and realize that I am God!

22 He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth,
and its people are like grasshoppers.
He stretches out the heavens like a canopy,
and spreads them out like a tent to live in.

We are just a bunch of grasshoppers! Small and insignificant and ignorant to the much bigger universe around us and YET the Merciful One stretches out His home, the heavens, like a canopy to create a home for us to live in!! Thank you Isaiah for revealing to us our condition!

23 He brings princes to naught
and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing.

24 No sooner are they planted,
       no sooner are they sown,
no sooner do they take root in the ground,
than he blows on them and they wither,
and a whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff.

NOTHING is a great power than He who has rescued us from the darkness and brought us into the marvelous light, into the kingdom where He dwells and reigns!

25 "To whom will you compare me?
Or who is my equal?" says the Holy One.

I dare you...

26 Lift your eyes and look to the heavens:
       Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one,
and calls them each by name.
Because of his great power and mighty strength,
not one of them is missing.

What a sweet Teacher He is...showing us, infants really, in our language and through our limited understanding a smidgeon of the depth, width and height of His great power and strength!

27 Why do you say, O Jacob,
       and complain, O Israel,
       "My way is hidden from the LORD;
my cause is disregarded by my God"?

Can this same LORD who keeps track of the stars be unaware of the life of His children? We are foolish to complain. We belittle Him when we lament that He is not near, that He does not know, that He is not aware and that He has turned aside and closed His eyes to us.

 28 Do you not know?
       Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.

29 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.

30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
       and young men stumble and fall;

31 but those who hope in the LORD
       will renew their strength.
       They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

It is not about how strong we are, but the strength of the one who is in us, working and willing to do that which will bring Him ALL glory and honor and power throughout all the generations! Christians, let us let ourselves die and let Him truly live in us!!!!
